Logging Australia's native forests

Australia’s native forests have been contested territory ever since the first white colonists intruded on Aboriginal land.

While most forest destruction has occurred in the name of agriculture, logging, especially in the latter part of the twentieth century, became the source of sometimes violent conflict.

Regional forest agreements were supposed to settle what could be logged and where but recent court challenges and protests show the forestry wars are far from over.
